There are two fishing piers on the lake and bank fishing is permitted in all park areas.
Fishing is a local pastime on both Canyon Lake and the Guadalupe River. Rainbow trout are stocked each year in later winter and early spring by Texas Parks and Wildlife to supplement native fish (including several bass species).
1. On the north side of the lake, a fishing pier is located near boat ramp #21, outside Potter's Creek Park on the west end. The fishing pier is about 50 yards west of the boat ramp and floating boat dock.
2. On the south side of the lake, a pier is located in Cranes Mill Park. Drive down Cranes Mill Road and turn to the left before the gate house. There is a small road which leads to the pier.
Additionally, there is a handicap-accessible concrete fishing pier at the base of the dam on the Guadalupe River.
